Having been with Google for more than a decade, Yacine has recently transitioned from a Northern European leadership role in marketing to become the global tech giant’s Racial Equity Lead for Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). As well as her deep passion for diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), Yacine brings with her to the position her analytical mindset and hugely significant intercultural communication experience. As an experienced practitioner of business organisational leadership, and high-impact, cross-functional strategies, Yacine has begun reaching out across all groups and professional demographics to unify, amplify and activate the DEI message.
With roots in both Senegal and Finland, Yacine has lived and breathed the path of diversity. As well as her DEI role at Google, Yacine is also an advisor for the non-profit organisation Ambitious Africa. In the past, she has been recognised, not only for her female leadership by the Finnish Chamber of Commerce, but also through the publications, Talouselämä, Kauppalehti and Helsingin Sanomat, through which she has highlighted the need for greater workplace inclusivity. As such, she has gladly taken on the role as patron and representative for the 2021 Responsible Employer campaign, which holds Non-Discrimination as one of the initiative’s core principles.
Yacine exercises her passionate belief in the value of diversity by championing both its moral importance as well as the long-term impact it can bring through an organisation to the benefit of society as a whole. Yacine is an advocate for social entrepreneurial projects that drive diversity and equity. She leverages her public speaking and media voice to bring awareness of equity issues and influence action toward greater inclusivity. Finally, Yacine is a board member at Åbo Akademi, and holds an Executive MBA from Aalto University, where she refined her geopolitical understanding of how to build solutions to a more sustainable and equitable society.
